John Harrie
Senior Geologist
John Harrie, a Washington State Licensed Geologist has over 20-years experience managing investigative, remedial and construction/demolition projects associated with environmental restoration throughout the United States, New Zealand and Ukraine. Mr. Harrie possesses a balanced and diverse breadth of experience working both in consulting and industrial management. As a proven problem solver and Project Manager, Mr. Harrie has developed his unique skill set by working closely with a broad range of professionals, including surveyors, contractors, planners, consultants, and Federal, State and Local officials. He has carried projects from inception through permitting, compliance, agency interaction and construction to the final phase “As-Built”, on time and within budget.
Mr. Harrie is currently acting Project Analytical Lead (PAL) supporting the Interim Safe Storage (ISS) for the Deactivation, Decontamination, Decommissioning and Demolition (D4) of the 100N Nuclear Reactor on the Hanford DOE site. Mr. Harrie has also worked extensively in multi-media (air, water and waste) compliance for the Timber Industry (Pulp & Paper, Sawmills, wood treatment, OSB) and Metal Recycling businesses. Specific tasks have included remedies to storm water infrastructure, NPDES Permitting, and RCRA and CERCLA Remedial Investigations/Feasibility Studies. Projects have also included investigation, remediation and closure of wood treatment facilities in Florida and Georgia, and a RCRA TSD (EPA 1700 listed) Creosote facility in Alabama.
Mr. Harrie supported the 1995 US Department of Energy (DOE) Baseline Budget validation for the DOE nuclear facilities at Mound, OH; Pantex, TX; Sandia National Laboratories, Albuquerque; Los Alamos Laboratories, NM; and Brookhaven, NY. Mr. Harrie spent over two and a half years supporting the SS-19 Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) Dismantlement and Elimination (D&E) program (START) in Ukraine. In New Zealand, Mr. Harrie utilized excavation, land-farming, sparge & vent and multi-phase vacuum recovery technologies in the investigation and remediation of Caltex Oil Terminal sites. John is trained to work in hazardous and radiological conditions.
