We are experienced with a variety of remediation projects involving cleanup of soil and groundwater contaminated by hazardous and radioactive substances.  Generally, remediation occurs as either a rapid response cleanup called an Independent Remedial Action, or as a remedial action which takes place following a Record of Decision, as part of a CERCLA or MTCA related RI/FS regulatory process.

Independent Remedial Actions

This type of cleanup typically takes place immediately after an incident such as a spill or leak is discovered and is performed quickly to prevent further environmental degradation.  In these situations, Freestone is contacted after an accidental release has occurred and we work closely with the parties involved to make sure the cleanup response is thoroughly performed. Our staff collect samples for analysis to confirm cleanup is achieved and prepare a report documenting the cleanup for regulatory reporting purposes.

Remedial Actions

Freestone staff have extensive experience with preparation of more complex remediation efforts pursuant to state and federal requirements. These can involve preparation of Remedial Design Reports, Remedial Action Work Plans (RDR/RAWPs) which are typically companion documents, and Removal Action Work Plans which do not typically include a RDR. Our staff have experience with various aspects of remedial actions involving:

  • Groundwater pump and treat systems – organics, inorganics, radionuclides
  • In Situ remediation of soil and groundwater – bioremediation, soil venting
  • Excavation, treatment, and disposal of contaminated sediments
