Job Description:

The successful candidate will participate in collaborative projects involving the planning for decommissioning and closure of historical process facilities and waste sites. Example documents to be prepared include:

Engineering Evaluation/Cost Analyses

Action Memorandums

Removal/Remedial Action Work Plans

Remedial Investigations/Feasibility Studies

RCRA Facility Investigations/Corrective Measures Studies

Sampling and Analysis Plans

Data Quality Objectives

Closure Plans

Job Duties:

Research historical data or documents

Review or analyze data and information

Prepare reports and presentations

Draft and finalize documents

Participate in strategy meetings or workshops

Interface with clients and regulators

Required Qualifications:

Candidate shall possess a minimum bachelor’s or master’s degree in chemistry, environmental science, geology, or a related engineering discipline.

Hanford or DOE-Site experience is preferred, but not required.

A minimum of 5 years professional experience (prefer consulting experience)

Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills

Motivated self-starter and detail-oriented

Able to work on multiple projects and maintain quality and timeliness of product

Available to relocate and work in Richland, Washington (preferred)

Freestone Environmental Services, Inc., a multi-discipline environmental consulting firm headquartered in Richland, Washington, is seeking a geologist for immediate employment to support regulatory field investigations.

Description:

The successful candidate will participate in project work at various locations on the Hanford Site near Richland, Washington. Project work will involve hydrogeologic investigations, monitoring well installation, environmental sampling, aquifer testing and analysis, and report preparation. The emphasis for this position is field work combined with in-office data analysis and report preparation. The position will involve:

Oversight of drilling and well installation

Participation in multimedia sampling programs

Evaluation and interpretation of environmental and geologic data

CERCLA and RCRA regulatory support

Maintaining environmental databases

Technical report preparation

Required Qualifications:

B.S./M.S. Geology/Hydrogeology

One to three years relevant project experience (prefer consulting experience)

Motivated self-starter and detail-oriented

Able to work outside in extreme weather conditions

Available to relocate and work in Richland, WA

Preferences:

One year of Hanford field geology experience

40-hour HAZWOPER

Strong technical writing skills
